Salary: Up to $16.13 Per Hour DOE

Position Summary:

This position prepares, stores, and serves food to children in the RSIC Hungry Valley Child Care program in accordance with program guidelines.

Duties:

  • Prepares snacks and meals based on planned menus and USDA requirements while traditional Native foods and the Pyramid Food Chart concept;
  • Prepares production records for each meal served and other CACFP program requirements;
  • Records number of meals prepared each day, documents daily menu content, purchases and transports food within budgeted guideline, and checks refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily;
  • Monitors nutritional habits of program participants and maintains log of food allergies and communicates with parents about nutritional needs;
  • Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, tools, and equipment;
  • Completes all job-related duties as requested by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate at time of hire;
  • Age twenty-one (21) at time of hire with eligibility to participate in the RSIC Vehicle Insurance Program;
  • Ability to read and interpret USDA/Nevada Department of Education food service requirements and CACFP requirements;
  • Successfully communicate in English both verbally and in writing;
  • Prior experience in the planning and preparation of meals for at least ten (10) or more children;
  • Ability to pass a TB test within thirty (30) days from date of hire;
  • Ability to complete and maintain Food Handlers', First Aid, and Adult/Infant CPR certification on an annual basis;
  • Successful completion of pre-employment FBI fingerprinting and drug test.

PLEASE NOTE: Hiring preference will be given to qualified tribal members of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101.630. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires a designated candidate to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references and certifications.
