Accounting Manager – Private Family Office | Greater Reno Area (Sparks, NV)

A private family office in Sparks, NV is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple entities, trusts, and investment structures. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with ownership in a highly professional, collaborative environment within a tight-knit 15-person team.

Position Overview

This role will partner directly with the Principal and play a key part in supporting high-level financial operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in managing complex multi-entity accounting with a strong sense of discretion.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Manage general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Handle intercompany and related-party transactions
• Supervise one staff member handling administrative/accounting tasks
• Partner with the Principal on reporting, financial insights, and projects
• Support trust funding activities and related documentation
• Coordinate with external advisors (CPAs, attorneys, bankers, investment professionals)
• Oversee cash management, wire transfers, and account monitoring
• Assist with foundation accounting (preferred, not required)
• Maintain strict confidentiality and organized financial records
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in family office, private wealth, trust, or multi-entity environments preferred
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
• Expertise in intercompany reconciliations
• High attention to detail with strong discretion
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership and advisors
• Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 (based on experience)
• Employer-paid health, dental & vision insurance (65% of premiums, including dependents)

• Stable schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Work Environment

• Location: Sparks, NV (10 minutes east of Reno)
• Schedule: 5 days in office preferred, with potential flexibility for 4 days in-office / 1 day WFH
