The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) is a federally recognized tribal government dedicated to the economic and social advancement of its people. Established in the early 1900s and formally recognized under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, the RSIC represents over 1,100 members of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe Tribes—Three Tribes, One Nation. Our lands include the original 28-acre Colony in central west Reno and a 1,920-acre community in Hungry Valley, located 19 miles north of the Colony in the scenic Eagle Canyon region of Nevada. As an Advanced Practice Provider at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, you will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer to deliver comprehensive primary care services that prioritize health promotion, injury and illness prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of health issues. This role involves monitoring stable chronic conditions and engaging in community development and advocacy to enhance overall well-being. You will conduct necessary testing, refer patients to physicians when needed, prescribe medications, and perform office procedures within your scope of expertise, all while utilizing available equipment. Your commitment to a culturally appropriate, holistic approach ensures that you provide patient-centered care to individuals of all ages, making a significant impact on the health of the community.
To thrive as an Advanced Practice Provider at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and hold a current State License as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. A minimum of three years of experience in an outpatient or ambulatory care clinic setting is essential, along with the ability to acquire and maintain ACLS certification promptly. Successful applicants must demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic medical care, including the assessment and evaluation of complex patient needs. Proficiency with electronic health records and various software applications is crucial for effective data communication. Strong organizational skills, the ability to shift priorities in a dynamic environment, and cultural competency regarding Native American populations are vital.
