General Purpose: The Retail Loss Prevention Officer plays a critical role in deterring theft and fraud while maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment for both Associates and Customers. You will be responsible for greeting customers, monitoring store activities, and collaborating closely with Store Leadership to minimize operational loss.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: Safety is our top priority. You will assist in ensuring a secure environment for all, provide a visible presence at store entrances/exits, and monitor the sales floor for safety issues.
  • Developing Great Teams & Partnerships: Engage with Customers and Associates respectfully and professionally, demonstrate exceptional courtesy, recognize team efforts, and support Loss Prevention initiatives.
  • Representing the Store Brand: Always maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Company dress code.
  • Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Identify suspicious behavior and theft indicators, communicate findings effectively to leadership, and adhere to Company policies regarding theft response.
  • Minimizing Operational Shortage: Educate Associates on effective shortage reduction strategies, observe checkout procedures, and promote awareness of loss prevention practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; AA degree preferred.
  • One year of retail supervisory experience or relevant training is preferred.
  • One year of loss prevention/security training is preferred.
  • An active Security Guard License is preferred.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven conflict resolution abilities.
  • Compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions is required, including background screening and drug testing.

Physical Requirements/ADA:

  • Regular, timely attendance is essential.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving throughout the store.
  • Capacity to lift or lower objects weighing more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch as needed.
  • Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
