The Resident Assistant (RA) position at the University of Nevada, Reno offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to support their education while living on campus. Responsible for fostering a positive community, Resident Assistants assist students in acclimating to university life and promoting learning both inside and outside the classroom. RAs are expected to be available for training and duty rotations, with limitations on outside employment to ensure job performance and academic success.

Acting as role models, RAs fulfill various duties including:

  • Community development through programming and peer support
  • Enforcement of residence hall policies for safety and security
  • Administrative tasks such as checking residents in and out, and handling maintenance requests

Required qualifications include:

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must be eligible to live in the residence halls
  • Candidate must be a full-time student in good standing
  • Candidate must maintain and semester GPA of 2.50 or higher throughout employment
  • Candidate must maintain 30 credits of coursework per academic year or an average of 15 credits per semester
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 2 semesters of college or university full-time status
  • Candidate must have the ability to handle at least 15 credits per semester while balancing student leadership responsibilities

Compensation includes:

  • Furnished room (with possibility of roommate depending on occupancy)
  • Utilities
  • Meal plan
  • Partial tuition waiver ($14 per credit for up to 15 credits) after completing two semesters
