Construction Inspection Specialist (Flex Staff)

CDM Smith is looking for Inspectors to provide independent, professional construction inspection and oversight of federal construction projects. This role requires applying broad professional knowledge of construction practices to meet client needs, clearly communicating project progress and issues to diverse functional teams and project leadership, and ensuring projects are delivered successfully, safely, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

Job duties include:

• Conducting on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects
• Documenting inspection results and communicating issues to project leadership
• Reviewing contractor submittals and coordinating with engineers and project management
• Monitoring construction progress and preparing detailed reports
• Inspecting and verifying construction materials and testing processes
• Overseeing field construction related services and enforcing adherence to safety, environmental, quality control, and permitting requirements
• Developing, training, and mentoring junior construction professionals

Minimum qualifications include:

• High school diploma
• At least 5 years of relevant construction experience

Preferred qualifications include:

• Prior federal or DoD project experience
• Experience in vertical and horizontal construction
• Knowledge of federal acquisition and contracting practices
• Familiarity with electronic systems such as eCMS, RMS/QCS, or other QA tools
