Location: Las Vegas, NV — University Medical Center of Southern Nevada

Position Summary

UMC seeks a compassionate and dedicated Medical Social Worker to provide critical support in patient discharge planning and emotional care. You'll assess patient needs and coordinate safe transitions from hospital to home or other care settings—ensuring holistic support throughout recovery.

Compensation & Incentives

• Hourly Rate: $27.69 – $42.92
• Eligible for $5,000 Sign-On Bonus
• Pension: Fully employer-paid contributions to Nevada Public Employees' Retirement System (NVPERS)
• Tax Advantage: No FICA (Social Security) tax deducted

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW or higher)
• At least 1 year of professional-level social work experience in a hospital or social services agency, or relevant internship/practicum

Additional Requirements

• Overall 3 years of acute care social work experience preferred
• Valid Nevada Social Worker License required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong grasp of counseling techniques, community resources, regulatory requirements, and discharge planning strategies
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities
• Comfort working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinical environments
