Location: Reno, NV


Job Overview


We are looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on FactoryTalk Service Technician to join our Reno-based team, specializing in the support, maintenance, and optimization of Rockwell Automation systems. This role focuses on field and remote service work for industrial clients, particularly those using FactoryTalk View SE/ME, FactoryTalk Historian, and Studio 5000 platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer-facing communication, and the ability to deliver reliable technical support across a range of industries.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide on-site and remote service support for industrial automation systems based on the Rockwell FactoryTalk suite.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with HMI/SCADA systems, PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), and industrial networks.
  • Perform routine maintenance, system updates, and software upgrades to ensure optimal performance of FactoryTalk applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to support installation, commissioning, and integration of new control systems.
  • Create and update HMI screens and operator interfaces using FactoryTalk View SE/ME.
  • Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation for each project or service event.
  • Educate and support end-users and client technicians on the operation and upkeep of Rockwell automation systems.
  • Stay up to date with Rockwell Automation releases, patches, and best practices to proactively improve system reliability and efficiency.


Required Qualifications


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical field—or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Rockwell Automation platforms in industrial environments.
  • Proficiency with FactoryTalk View SE/ME, FactoryTalk Historian, and Studio 5000 Logix Designer.
  • Solid understanding of PLC programming (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) and troubleshooting logic-based control systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and OPC UA.
  • Ability to read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical issues.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required (local and occasional regional travel).


Preferred Qualifications


  • Rockwell Automation certifications or training (e.g., FactoryTalk or Studio 5000).
  • Experience with additional SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware, or Siemens WinCC.
  • Background in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, or oil and gas.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or relevant industrial safety training.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools like Bluebeam, or CAD tools for reviewing panel layouts.
