Job Title: PhlebotomistResponsibilities
+ Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
+ Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
+ Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture blood drawing and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport.
+ Store specimen samples according to the required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labeling and following different procedures as outlined by the specific protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
Essential Skills
+ Valid Phlebotomy certification in any state
+ Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 0-2 years of experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is preferred.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
+ Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
+ Reliable transportation and a clean driving record (if applicable).
+ Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
+ Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Schedule
+ Monday through Friday (8am to 4:30pm)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
