Senior Field Engineer Manager-Japanese Bilingual

Location: Reno, Nevada (Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annually (higher compensation possible for exceptional candidates)

Job Summary

Japanese Manufacturer is seeking a Senior Field Engineer Manager to lead a team of four field engineers responsible for maintaining advanced equipment at our Reno factory. The ideal candidate will have strong management skills and be bilingual in Japanese and English. This position requires effective communication with both Japanese and American counterparts at Panasonic and clients. Experience in managing electrical or mechanical engineering teams is preferred, particularly within the lithium-ion battery industry, though not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise and manage a team of four field engineers, all engaged in equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Client & Internal Communication: Serve as the point of contact between Panasonic's Japanese and American teams, relaying client requests to field staff and reporting project updates to headquarters.
• Operational Management: Oversee administrative aspects of field operations, coordinate logistics, and ensure timely shipment and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Site Supervision: Regularly update headquarters on project status, site conditions, and team performance.
• Problem Solving: Support engineers in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, focusing on maintenance and repair.

Required Qualifications

• Language Skills: Fluent in Japanese (required), Business-level English (required)
• Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical or engineering teams (experience in electrical fields is advantageous)
  • Previous experience working with multinational teams, particularly Japanese and American cultures, preferred
• Skills:
  • Effective communicator capable of bridging cultural differences and facilitating teamwork
  • Hands-on approach to troubleshooting with a focus on practical maintenance, repairs, and understanding of basic mechanical tools
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery technology is a plus, but not required
